Membership Admission Policy
Policy 1.0: Don Berner Big Band Foundation Membership Admission
Article I: Eligibility for Membership
Section 1: Eligibility Criteria
- Any individual who agrees to abide by the Don Berner Big Band Foundation (the Foundation) bylaws, rules, and regulations shall be eligible for membership in the Foundation, upon payment of annual membership fees agreed upon by the board of the Foundation. Annual dues may be set at a General Meeting.
- The Founding Board members of the Foundation are granted lifetime Virtuoso Patron memberships in gratitude for their efforts. Founding Board members are those members of the Foundation’s Registration Statement dated 23 September 2022 as filed with the Registrar of Corporations.
- Musicians contracted by the Foundation will be granted an annual general membership for 1 year from the date of which they have been contracted in gratitude for their efforts.
- A roster of all members of the Foundation shall be maintained by the Secretary of the Foundation.
Article II: Application for Membership
Section 1: Application Process
- Any individual seeking membership in the Foundation shall complete and submit an official membership application form provided by the Foundation.
- The membership application may be amended from time to time, as determined by the Foundation’s Board.
Section 2: Review and Approval
- The Foundation’s Executive Director shall review all membership applications.
- Membership applications shall be approved or denied based on the eligibility criteria outlined in Article I, Section 1 of this Policy and the Bylaws of the Don Berner Big Band Foundation.
Article III: Rights and Responsibilities of Members Section 1: Rights of Members
- All members of the Foundation, shall have the following rights:
- The right to attend and participate in annual general meetings of the Foundation.
- The right to vote in elections for Directors of the Foundation and referendums (as applicable).
- Members will be accepted at different levels of membership based on different costs to be determined by the Executive Director or by a vote of the board members. Membership levels may change from time to time to keep pace with rising costs.
The membership tiers and the privileges granted with each tier are as follows:
Student Members:
- 10% discount on concert tickets for members, friends, and family.
- 10% off all merch.
- Access to members-only online content, including recorded performances and interviews with artists.
- Early access to ticket sales and special promotions.
General Members:
- 10% discount on concert tickets for members, friends, and family.
- 10% off all merch.
- Access to members-only online content, including recorded performances and interviews with artists.
- Early access to ticket sales and special promotions.
Crescendo Patron:
- All benefits of General Members.
- 1 complimentary ticket to any one concert of their choice per year.
- Exclusive quarterly newsletter with behind-the-scenes insights.
- Recognition in concert programs.
Harmony Patron:
- All benefits of Crescendo Patron.
- 2 complimentary tickets to any two concerts of their choice per year.
- Invitation to private pre-concert reception with artists and board, as applicable.
Virtuoso Patron:
- All benefits of Harmony Patron.
- Season pass for all four concerts.
- Invitation to an exclusive annual appreciation event, as applicable.
Section 2: Responsibilities of Members
- All members shall:
- Adhere to the Society’s bylaws, rules, and regulations.
- Pay any applicable membership dues or fees in a timely manner.
- Act in a manner that upholds the values and objectives of the Foundation.
Article IV: Termination of Membership
Section 1: Grounds for Termination
- Membership in the Foundation may be terminated for any of the following reasons:
- Violation of the Society’s bylaws or rules.
- Non-payment of membership dues or fees.
- Resignation by written notice to the Foundation.
Section 2: Termination Process
- The Board of Directors and Executive Director shall follow a fair and transparent process when considering the termination of a member.
- Members subject to termination shall be provided with notice and an opportunity to be heard before a final decision is made.
Article V: Amendments to the Policy
Section 1: Amendments to Membership Admission Policy
- This Policy governing membership admission may be amended by a vote of two thirds of the membership at an annual general meeting.
Article VII: Effective Date Section 1: Effective Date
- This Policy governing membership admission shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
Article VIII: Miscellaneous
Section 1: Compliance
- In the event of a conflict between this Policy and the Bylaws of the Don Berner Big Band Foundation, the Bylaws of the Don Berner Big Band Foundation shall prevail in all instances.
